The weathering pencils can be used both dry and wet. With dry use it can be used for deep and surface chipping, but also for scratches, edge-highlighting, brushed metal and paneling. If you use it wet (with normal water), it is super easy to get streaking and rust effects, as well as smoke and oil effects, dust and mud and color transitions.

By blending the excess pigment with the background with a flat brush (both dry and wet), the effect is super realistic.
