Andrea Blue is a vibrant medium blue in the Vallejo Model Color range. This shade is bright without being overpowering, making it suitable for a wide variety of uses—from painting skies and water to clothing, armor, or energy effects on fantasy miniatures. Its matte finish and high pigmentation provide strong, even coverage.
Thanks to its fine consistency and pigment density, Andrea Blue brushes on smoothly and can be built up in multiple thin coats without visible brush marks. The color remains vivid even when thinned for techniques like glazing or blending, making it a favorite among painters who focus on layering and atmospheric depth.
Andrea Blue pairs beautifully with other shades from the Model Color range. For highlights, 70961 Sky Blue works perfectly, while 70925 Blue makes for a natural mid-tone transition. To deepen shadows or create more contrast, 70930 Dark Blue is ideal. For a metallic contrast, 70801 Brass adds a sophisticated touch on mechanical or decorative parts.
When painting skies or open scenery, Andrea Blue can be mixed with 70951 White to create smooth gradients or soft cloud effects. In fantasy painting, it's a popular base for magical energy, elven fabrics, or icy textures—especially when used with 70842 White Blue.
In dioramas and scenery work, Andrea Blue works well as a reflection tone on water or as a base for scenic sky backdrops. Because of its cool yet luminous tone, it fits well into both warm and cold palettes. For visual contrast, pair it with 70910 Orange Red or 70956 Clear Orange to create a striking, complementary effect.
The paint is packaged in an 18ml r-PET bottle with an eyedropper tip for precise, mess-free application. This eco-friendly packaging keeps the paint from drying out and makes it easy to manage quantities. If the tip becomes clogged, simply clear it with a fine needle or toothpick.
Like all Model Color paints, Andrea Blue is made with permanent pigments and is fully lightfast, making it suitable for display models as well as gaming miniatures. Mistakes can be corrected easily while the paint is still wet using water or a bit of alcohol.
