The Thirty Years' War was a politico-religious conflict fought in Central Europe that pitted an anti-Habsburg and Protestant coalition against the Catholic allies of the Habsburg Monarchy. It lasted from 1618 to 1648 and ended with the Peace of Westphalia. In terms of uniformity, there was no homogeneity on any side except the Swedish army which did have some regulation. The armies used feathers, sashes or armbands with their national colors to identify themselves on the battlefield.
